When there is no chimney cap present, it is possible for animals to enter the chimney and build a nest on top of the damper or on top of the chimney itself. Also, when rain enters the chimney flue, it can cause damage to the liner and cause the chimney crown to deteriorate. The chimney should be protected from any type of debris from tree limbs, leaves and other small rodents such as raccoons or squirrels. We can remove birds, raccoons, squirrels and other animals from the chimney flue. The flue is then cleaned and a chimney cap is installed with a wire mesh screen to allow smoke to come out and keep out rain, animals and debris.

We clean the fireplace chimney flue with wire brushes and make sure that each and every flue is inspected. This procedure is also used for furnace flues, freestanding woodstoves, woodstove inserts and oil furnaces. A written report is given to each customer to make sure that he/she is aware of the condition of the chimney before it is used again. Any safety hazards are explained in detail so that the customer can make the decision to have the repairs completed or not use the fireplace until it has been repaired.

If you find that your clothes dryer is taking a much longer time to dry your clothes, it is possible that the hose has become clogged with lint. This condition can lead to a fire inside your home. The dryer vent hose must be removed from the back of the dryer and blown out with a high powered blower and a dryer vent cleaning brush. We clean out dryer vent ducts from the inside out and install dryer vent guards if necessary. We can also replace dryer vent hoses if the hose is considered a fire hazard.

The chimney crown keeps water from going inside the flue and causing damage to the flue tiles or liner. If the crown has cracks or is crumbling, we remove and relay the entire crown with a new crown that is cast in concrete. |
